Vanilla Bean Powder Review

This product really wowed me! I love the taste of vanilla anytime, but this one is so intense and you can really tell that it has been ground recently and not months ago. I love that this powder comes in an easy to reseal bag, so that I can easily open it and use what I need and then store the rest. I love that this is gluten free and vegan and that it is all organic. We get way too many chemicals in our bodies as is and it is nice that this isn’t just one more. You can really perk up the taste of any smoothie or any recipe that you make that calls for vanilla extract. I really prefer the taste of this powder over the fake vanilla extracts that can really ruin a dish. I also like to add a small teaspoon of this to my coffee beans when I am grinding them and I get the richest vanilla coffee that way. It taste amazing. Your really much try this yourself.

Makeup Remover from Miss Landson(tm) Review

This is a cloth that you moisten with water and it does an amazing job of removing your makeup, without all the chemicals that other makeup remover has. This cloth feels amazing against your skin, without giving you those tiny micro-tears that other abrasive products can leave, which can lead to infections in your skin. One side is an exfoliator and the other the makeup remover. This exfoliator is gentle on your skin like no other! This product is durable and functional. The colors on it don’t run when you wash it. I have not found any makeup yet that leaves stains on this cloth. I really couldn’t believe the ease of removing my mascara with this cloth. I thought that there was no way that this would work on that, I have the hardest time getting mascara off with any product. I received this product in exchange for my honest opinion.

Mental Health “Task-shifting”

When posed this question in one of my class discussion boards,”reflect your thoughts on mental illness in society, the impact of mental illness on society and how the issues of the impact of mental illness can be addressed” My answer was as follows:

Let me start by saying that there couldn’t have been a topic closer to my heart. I have far more experience with mental illness than anything else, and hope to have more as I finish my education. My mother was a paranoid schizophrenic (I know our article says not to label them as such, but she was until she killed herself.) My father was a bipolar substance abuser. Me? I have carried almost every diagnosis that you can think of, and yet, here I sit, my version of normal. My nephew, whom I have been raising since he was 10 months old, has early onset bipolar disorder. I am in school to become a PTSD psychologist. (Not what this assignment really is, but I wanted to get that part of the way.)

Perhaps you don’t feel impacted by mental illness, as you don’t know anyone that you think of as being mentally ill. I know that it would be much easier if that were true, but the fact remains that mental illness affects every single person in a society, even those without it. The trickle down effect of people not receiving the treatment that they need or from those abusing that system and receiving far more than they need (Our reading didn’t touch on that part…). Our society is affected differently than those in developing countries, where our reading told of the ghastly shortage of psychiatrists across the world. I am baffled at the lack, or maybe I never gave it any consideration because in this country there seems to be a psychiatrist on every street. The fact that Zimbabwe has only a dozen psychiatrists for 3 million people, as Patel told us in his video, is heartbreaking to me. I know how this can affect not only the individual, but the entire society around that person.

I really think that Patel is on to something with his “Task Shifting”, article and video found here. In developing countries there are people that have the aptitude to provide the care needed, but not the education. Being that a psychologist/psychiatrist doesn’t have to physically dismantle your body and repair it, I can’t see a harm in a person with the aptitude for caring being allowed to provide that service. Education is costly, aptitude is free. I think that in some way, even in our society, there are a host of people in every community that provide psychology services, without even being aware. Here are a few, and think about it before you disagree:

1. Bartenders: They serve your drinks and listen to you vent.

2. Priests/Preachers/Church Parishioners: Listening to your religious confusion and listening to you vent.

3. Gas station workers/coffee house workers/waitresses: Listening to you vent. (don’t tell me there isn’t one someone that you speak with.)

4. Police officers: I spent an hour with one the other day who just joked and laughed with me.

5. Children sports community: Your kid’s football moms. You are all venting as you go.

6. Your friends: I don’t even have to tell you here.

There are more, but you get the point. All of these social supports provide you with a release of emotion, togetherness, connection, and friendship. Like the exercise that we read about, these social support can reduce stress, which reduces depression. (I can’t physically do much exercise due to RA, but I can dish with the girls. I know my post has been really long, but again, I am passionate. And mouthy. Most of all Mouthy. If you have made it this far, thank you!

Advanced Glutathione Review

This product is a spray that you spray 6 times in your mouth, 2-3 times a day. The spray has a slight chalky taste similar to rolaids, but again it is so very slight, really it taste like nothing. I have noticed an increase in my energy and a decrease of some of my pain that is caused by inflammation. I have noticed no ill side effects of this supplement and all has gone well with it. I like that I am doing a little something to reduce the free radicals and help my immune system, which is historically a little off. I received this product in exchange for my honest opinion.

Generation Guard Thermometer

This thermometer is really neat and really handy to have. You never know when you might need to check out your temp or your children’s temp and this is a simple way to do it. The thermometer sit right under your tongue and gives you a comfortable, fast and easy reading. I did have a bit of a time trying to switch it from Celsius to Fahrenheit but once that was done this was simple to work. Every reading seemed right on and very accurate. I like that the probe covers that I have fit onto this thermometer easily and I also like that this comes with a case to store the thermometer in when not in use. 24K Gold Vitamin C Serum Hyaluronic Review

This is a 24k Gold facial serum made by Xanadu. It is a vitamin c serum and a foundation primer. It works well! My face looks dewy fresh and ready for further makeup to go atop of it. It leaves you looking younger and the gold leaves these little light reflecting areas on your face, which of course, make you look younger. But, this serum goes further than just making you APPEAR younger, it actually works to stimulate more growth/new growth in your skin cells, which lead your skin to BEING younger. The hyaluronic acid in this serum is terrific for improving the moisture retention of your skin, which is essential to youthful skin as well. I have always thought of it more like, “It’s not that we get older, it’s that we get drier”. With this serum that can be avoided.

It is packaged well and the bottle is so adorable. You can easily get the serum out and storing the rest for later is also a breeze. All in all this is a great product and I look forward to my future results with extended use.

I did receive this product for free, in exchange for my honest opinion.

Coosh Upper Arm Blood Pressure Monitor Review

This blood pressure monitor is so handy to have. As someone with high blood pressure it is essential to keep a check on it to make sure that the medications are working. The large display is great for not having to strain at seeing the numbers. The cuff is comfortable, although I did have to use it on my lower arm, as my upper arm is too large. But no worries there, it still gives an accurate reading. This whole unit is small and compact, which would make it simple to toss in your carrier bag and take it with you so that you can check your blood pressure at anytime and on the go. I love that it stores up so many readings too, so that you have plenty of time to either write it down in your log book or have it at your finger tips. I love the handy carrying bag that comes with this unit too. There is no better way to get hospital grade readings than with this unit. I received this product in exchange for my honest opinion.

Lavender Eye Pillow Review.

Can we talk about heaven people? This pillow is heaven for my achy head. My sinuses tend to give me untold trouble. This pillow eases some of the pain off and allows me to relax in ways that I haven’t been able to find in any other product. This has to be the most amazing way that I have found to use aromatherapy and the most easy. I can literally feel my stress and worry melt away as I apply this little massaging pillow to my eyes. I was concerned that it would aggravate my eyes since they are so sensitive with my contacts in, but I had no trouble at all. When I put this pillow in the freezer, I got instant cooling and relaxation, even on that 90 degree day. I seriously would love to have 10 of these so there is always one ready! The material is soft and smooth against my skin too. I received this product in exchange for my honest opinion.

NeoCell Keratin Hair Volumizer Review + Giveaway

Let me start by clearing up something, Keratin is getting a lot of heat in the media lately due to it being used in straightening processes on hair. This is a supplement though, and shouldn’t be in the same category with that process. This product is a supplement that has Keratin, Vitamin C, Collagen, and Indian Goosberry. I will break down what they each do for your hair, so that you get a clearer idea of the amazingness that is this product.

Keratin: Keratin is a protein that is already in your hair. Adding more of it, via a supplement, assists in growing more hair and giving volume to dull hair. (That being said, too much keratin will make your hair coarse, so don’t take a handful thinking that it will work better. Follow the manufacturers directions.)

Vitamin C: The body needs Vitamin C to make collagen.

Collagen: Important protein for hair, 25-30% of the total protein that is in our body. It just makes sense that more of it will allow your hair (and skin) to look more youthful and full.

Indian Goosberry: Increases hair growth and volume.

***please note that all of this above info is from my personal research, not the companies****

I have noticed since my time starting this that my hair looks more glossy and is more full. I think that I require a further time to know if it truly works the way that it is touted, but as of now I do like it. I don’t experience any stomach upset or even notice that I have taken the supplement, so that part is wonderful.

***please also note that I received this product in exchange for my honest opinion***
